Seafarer, writer, builder of boats, lumberjack and a „adventurer-
buddy“. He built more then ten seaworthy boats, on which he
passed through all the oceans of the world. He wrote more the
ten books. In a small yacht „Polka“ he journeyed to the Tierra Del
Fuego. In a ship „Polarka, which was built for the toughest marine
environment, during four years he circelled the Earth passing
through the most hostile regions of the Arctic and the Antarctic. With
the help of Polish ship builders and Czech enthusiasts, he bulit
a twenty meters long wooden replica of Magellan’s carrack Victoria.
Although born in a landlocked country without a see shore, he
became a seafarers legend. Now he builds boats for orphanages.
„When a man gets stuck in an icefield somewere far North or far
South, and the navigation tools are failing, and the ship is not as
strong as needed as for example Nansen’s „Fram“, he tells himself:
It’s not gonna work this time. But, the sea is more forgiving
than all of us think.“
