Wagner was a sailor since childhood. His dream was to sail around the world. In 1931 he rebuil with the help of his friends an old sailboat which he named Zjewa. Zjewa made it across the Atlantic but no furter. Wagner repaired a second sailboat and started on another journey. This time on Zjewa II which could not make it across the Pacific. Wagner reached Australia on a merchant ship and there he worked and saved his money for his next project: Zjewa III. He built Zjewa III in Equador and sailed back to Australia, where he picked up a fresh crew. One notable member of this crew was David Walsh. Once past the Gibraltar, Wagner becomes the first Pole to sail around the World. At the onset of World War II he reaches England and serves in the war navy till the war’s end. He is rescued two times from torpedoed ships. His round the world trip in the years 1932-1939 and his building of the three “Zjeva”s reveal his extraordinary personality and determination which shines like a sun in the sailor’s sky.
